THERE’S STILL TIME TO DANCE AROUND THE WORLD

Beginning International Folk Dance classes at Southwestern Oregon Community College’s main and Curry campuses started this week, but you can still sign up. It’s PE 0230 in the Community Education department. The main campus class is taught by Stacy Rose on Tuesday evenings; the Curry Campus class is taught by Vicki Isaeff on Wednesday evenings. For more information, call Brenda Locke, Community Education Coordinator, at 888-7328.

HELP WANTED. REALLY NOW!

The South Coast Folk Society needs some people to put their names on a list to be called to help with setup and cleanup at the dances. It’s just a matter of moving some tables and chairs around. Please sign up at the Greenacres Barn Dance on Jan. 16. Contact Gail (756-4701) or Paul (572-5370) for more information.

The South Coast Folk Society also still needs a concert coordinator for the May benefit concert. Learn new skills, or exercise old ones. Call Gail Elber at 756-4701 if you’re interested.

DOUBLE VISION AT BLUE MOON

A new local band doing classic covers from ’60s thru today will be playing at the Blue Moon 1/15-16/10. Double Vision features Timberwolf’s longtime bassist Gaylord Hoggatt. This band is assuming a Timberwolf booking while T-wolf’s drummer/vocalist Richard McCarty recovers from surgery. Come take a listen!

BLUEGRASS BASH BANDS CHOSEN, JAMMING TENTS PLANNED

The Star of Hope’s Bluegrass Bash organizers have nailed down the bands for the 2010 event.  Two are out of Portland. This year, they will be holding the Bluegrass Bash on Saturday, Aug. 7 in Mingus Park and having two jamming tents set up where area musicians can jam. They will also have a couple of clinics/workshops in the tents led by the musicians from the bands.
